Description Chocolate Mint Hydrosol Mentha aquatica Flower/Leaf/Stem Oil Artisan Steam Distillation From Israel See Chocolate Mint Essential Oil Here Chocolate Mint Mentha aquatica grown from seeds in the Holy Land of Israel has been cultivated every year for essential oil and hydrosol healing properties. Artisan distilled by Golan Weiss on Rimon Farms. The plant grows to about 2-3 feet tall and easily spreads by rhizomes into an attractive ground cover. The rounded, lance-shaped leaves are a darker green than other forms of mint. Mint flowers appear in summer. This plant is a vigorous grower that is sometimes planted as an annual in colder climates. Israel is home to many types of mint plants. This one is very special. I have owned many chocolate mint plants in my gardens over the years wherever I lived, but I have to say there is something so very special when it is cultivated and grown in the Holy Land. The moment I smelled this oil’s aroma I knew it was a game-changer! WOW! HISTORICAL USE FOR BEAUTY CARE Mentha aquatica (Chocolate Mint) was simmered in vinegar to combat dandruff.  Infusions were traditionally used to soften to bring shine to hair and tighten skin, and also relieve itching sensation due to dry, cracked, problematic skin. Its astringent and cooling effect was beneficial for insect stings and bites. Compresses were used to alleviate sunburn. Used in cooking to relieve digestive issues and relieve headaches. Mint has been in use for centuries in the middle eastern medicines. Interesting to mention the Ebers Papyrus from Egypt, which dates to about 1500 BCE, Mint is mentioned by name as well as in later years the Hebrew Bible also mentions mint. Mint was cultivated by the ancient Israelites and Egyptians. Since the two lands border one another it was known as “Canon Leaf”.
