Description Picture this: You’re tidying up your build, everything’s all soldered and configured, all looking good to go You can’t wait to go try it out, so you turn on your radio, put on your goggles, plug in the lipo and… You hear a pop. Then you smell the smoke. You unplug as quickly as possible, but you know it’s too late; something was off and it’s cooked. No flying for you today, back to the bench, ordering a replacement, waiting for it I know you’ve been there, Lord knows I have many times. Surely there’s something that can be done about it? Introducing Sparkyguard, the best way to protect your fresh builds during first plug-ins! What is it: It would be easy to just call it yet another smoke stopper, which sure it kinda is lol Except that I could find NO such thing for 1S specifically. Firstly most appear to be rated 2S and up, But even those who seem to work on 1S anyway use PTC resettable fuses, that can take upwards of 150ms to trip, a long time for our sensitive electronics. Also they’re all big and come with XT30/60 plugs we don’t even use. So I figured a way to fix all these issues and came up with this circuit that responds instantly to a short –within the microsecond order. Packaged it all into a tiny accessory you can fit anywhere and always have in your kit for field repairs. How does it work: When team pilot Mr Rabble asked me to make something like that I told him mane just get a lab power supply Well this is essentially a keychain sized power supply. You plug your LiPo to the Sparkyguard Then plug it in your quad If you have a short circuit, any current over 3A gets instantly clamped down to 0.65A, and a red LED turns on to flag the fault If nothing happens and the whoop just boots up well congrats you got a working whoop! Remember it is limited to 3A; you may check your motors for spin but do not expect to fly with it Features: Instantaneous trip delay for maximum protection Designed for 1S builds from the ground up Tiny, petite and cute Purple Specs: Dimensions: 20x7mm Trip current: 3A Hold Current: 0.65A Weight: ~3.3g Contents: 1x Sparkyguard PCB Optional 1x A30 male and 1x A30 female Quick note about the options: I’ve made this device to mainly be a DIY kit to assemble your own connectors onto; you can get it without connectors and solder on your own, or you can get it with our A30/BT2 compatible to solder yourself, or if you prefer I can solder them on myself for you, on-demand.
